"Don't Tag Along"
(It's Later Than You Think)

by John A. Tuttle (June 1966)

Where are you going to stay?
Will you be anesthetized today?
Try not to feel so low. Because,
When you open your eyes,
The World is Brighter.
The World is Brighter.
And you begin to categorize
All the thoughts you saw while under.

Is it worth another?
Can you believe that brothers
Steal what's not tied down? Because,
You've seen the lighter shades.
That makes you wonder.
That makes you wonder.
Don't they turn your mind opaque?
Is it always the thought that counts?

Can you see forever?
Is your soul much better
Now that you're upside down? Because,
Now that you've opened your eyes,
The World is darker.
The World is darker.
And you recall all of those lies
That were taught when you were younger.

When the rocks start rolling,
I know they know they've sinned.
They pray for the peace but fight. Because,
They have not opened their minds.
They'll see tomorrow.
They'll see tomorrow.
All they do is tag behind.
It is later than you think.
